Dr. Shindy Je is the holder of the Indonesia record museum (MURI) title ‘The first Indonesian to earn PhD in Vision Science’
Dr. Shindy Je won the South Wales Optical Association prize and The Bausch and Lomb UK prize during her undergraduate degree study in one of the best Optometry schools in the world, Cardiff University (UK). She was also selected to represent Cardiff University (UK) for the highly competitive research project in Kyoto, Japan. She graduated with first class honours, which is the highest honours classification that indicates high academic achievement.
Upon the completion of her Bachelor degree, she won scholarships to pursue PhD in Vision Science at Cardiff University (UK). She was actively involved in the clinical teaching of undergraduate students and gave talks in numerous international conferences in America, United Kingdom, Italy, Kazakhstan and Japan. She was one of the few UK representatives selected to visit Kazakhstan as part of the pioneering UK-Kazakhstan Vision conference “Advances in eye research towards the prevention of visual loss”. She also won numerous awards for her presentation and clinical research skills, amongst them a grant by the International Perimetric Society.
Her research on lazy eye had been published in the highly competitive and prestigious journal, Nature. To access:
